In the classic story of Cinderella, the 3 step-sisters are full of greed, greed for money and the nice things they can get, craving tons of gifts and wishing others to not have anything if they can't have it, and even when they can have it they rather the other person still not have it, they try to be better than others and develop envy of others, which results in their monstrous behaviours. They get jealous of others who get attention and crave all the attention, they equate money and gifts with love, perhaps because their mother has taught them such things are more important and lacks the typical shows of affection?
The step-mother of Cinderella has monstrous behaviors as well, working Cinderella like a slave, treating her like dirt, all because she thinks she is beneath her, but perhaps Cinderella is secretly a rich woman, perhaps inheriting her father’s money and is treated in such a way by her step-mother so that she will not find out and demand to be treated with respect and have control of such money.
I remember the most, from various versions of the story, they had in common the abuse of Cinderella, being forced to work day and night, cleaning cooking, and various other tasks, while the step family go out to have fun every night. There is also the scene from Disney’s movie that I will never forget, where the step-sisters become jealous of the dress Cinderella made out of all the objects she found laying around which no one cared for or used, and then the step-sisters all decided to tear apart her dress, while she was even wearing it, because they were jealous of, one, her talent to make her own dress, and two, the fact that she could take something they thought was useless and make it into something beautiful, and realizing this, they also decide if they cant have it be so beautiful, then she cant either. They crave even the things they don't like and destroy others in the process of claiming it all.
